A Summerfield woman was taken into custody for battery after reportedly throwing a metal cup at her boyfriend’s head during an argument.

According to an arrest record from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy investigating a battery discovered the boyfriend of Lori Hanlon, 62, in the back of an ambulance around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. He had dried blood on the top and sides of his head, as well as on his right arm. There was also a recent laceration on the top of his skull, measuring about three-quarters of an inch long.

He explained that he and Hanlon had been dating since 2004 and shared an adult child. They were squabbling in their shared kitchen as he attempted to pour Coca-Cola into a metal cup filled with ice cubes, which she batted away. According to the allegation, he then left the mess on the floor and went to sit in the living room recliner.

While sitting there, the pair proceeded to dispute about something he couldn’t recall. Hanlon struck him on the top of the head with some unknown instrument, and the blood that flowed from his head caused him to call the police. He indicated that this was the only time things were physical, and he did not respond, according to the report.

Hanlon, on the other hand, said the ice was thrown on her by her lover. An officer questioned if he utilized momentum to launch the ice or took it from the cup, and she glanced at him, unsure whether to respond. According to the article, when he asked again, she clarified that it was momentum.

When asked what occurred next, she replied that she was “sick of the verbal and mental abuse,” so she picked up the cup and hurled it at him. But she couldn’t explain how she received the cup from her lover and refused to answer any inquiries. She continually glanced at the officer, as if considering which tale to tell and which questions to answer or disregard, according to the report.

A search of the house uncovered a huge silver Bubba cup on the counter, which the boyfriend had picked up. The report described it as a thick, insulated metal cup designed to keep drinks cold or hot for an extended period of time.

Hanlon was arrested for simple violence (domestic). The Michigan native was transferred to the Marion County Jail, where his bond was set at $2,000.
