A 15-year-old died after he was shot earlier this month in West Dallas, according to authorities.

According to a news statement from Dallas police, officers responded to a shooting complaint at approximately 5:08 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, in the 7700 block of Forest Lane.

According to police, a 15-year-old was shot near the 2500 block of Canada Drive and driven to the hospital in a private vehicle.

The victim died on December 13, and the offense was reclassified as homicide, according to the announcement.

Police are investigating the incident.
