A fifth suspect has been apprehended in connection with a gun-related incident at a bus stop near the Lake Sumter Apartments.

Virginia Rose Elizabeth Jordan, 35, is charged with disorderly conduct for her role in the violent incident at the Lake Sumter Apartments on County Road 466 at Cherry Lake Road on December 1 morning. Her counterparts, 22-year-old I’Tterria Kamora Brazil Small Smith, 22-year-old Kaniya Zakira McPhee, 25-year-old Keyundra Onisha McPhee, and 33-year-old Brittany Marie Cathcart, were arrested on warrants Tuesday night.

According to arrest counterparts from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, the fight started when Jordan approached Cathcart and her children at the bus stop. She wanted to speak with Cathcart’s wife, Kaniya, about an altercation from the day before.

Around this time, Brazil Small Smith arrived and informed several individuals, including children, that she had a pistol and mace in her purse. Her threats to use both against them instilled dread and caused a disturbance at the bus stop.

Kaniya and her sister Keyundra, who lives at the Cove Apartments in Lady Lake, arrived and got into a verbal altercation with Jordan, who then punched Kaniya in the face. This resulted in several confrontations between the women and a group of juveniles standing nearby. Cathcart instantly retaliated by striking one child, while Brazil Small Smith struck another, prompting the smaller sibling to try to pull her away from her sister.

Several witnesses reported seeing Keyundra with a firearm, which they assumed was taken from Brazil Small Smith’s handbag. Kaniya was also observed clutching the handgun during the continuous fighting, allegedly pointing it at a mother attempting to remove her child from the fray. The mother claimed Kaniya pointed the gun at her and told her to “back off,” which they did out of concern for their safety.

Jordan was arrested this week and taken to the Sumter County Detention Center, where her bond was set at $1,000. The remaining four suspects have since been released.
