A 51-year-old Baytown man is facing theft charges after allegedly stealing more than $1,700 in brisket from several Central Texas grocery stores over the weekend, according to authorities.

Armando Salazar was arrested on December 6 and charged with theft under $2,500 with two or more previous convictions, according to the Buda Police Department. He is being jailed under a $2,500 bond.

Salazar allegedly took brisket from H-E-B and Walmart sites in Buda, as well as retailers in Manor and Austin.

Officers reported the crimes to the Kyle Police Department, and officers found Salazar at their local H-E-B, where they suspect he was attempting to continue taking meat.
