A man is charged with assault following a confrontation with immigration officials in Pittsburgh.

Cell phone video shared with Channel 11 showed the struggle, which continued several minutes.

According to federal court documents, Darwin Alexander Davila-Perez is accused of “forcibly assaulting, resisting, opposing, impeding, or interfering with—involving physical contact—certain officers or employees who were engaged in or on account of the performance of official duties.”

An affidavit states that ICE agents endeavored to locate and apprehend Davila-Perez following his attempt to buy a firearm in Western Pennsylvania.

The sale was prohibited because Davila-Perez is a Nicaraguan citizen with no legal standing in the United States, according to records.

On December 17, ICE authorities apparently noticed Davila-Perez leaving his home in Pittsburgh’s Mount Washington area and stopped his pickup on Norton Street.

According to records, Davila-Perez reversed his truck into an agent’s vehicle before leaping onto a nearby home’s front porch.

An officer attempted to arrest Davila-Perez, who allegedly struck the officer in the face with his elbow. The two continued to wrestle, with Davila-Perez allegedly grabbing for the officer’s weapon holster.

Davila-Perez refused to comply, biting an officer’s forearm, according to papers. Another cop used pepper spray to attempt to control him.

While handcuffed, Davila-Perez allegedly threw the handcuffs at the cops, striking one on the forehead.

According to records, authorities repeatedly ordered Davila-Perez to stop in both English and Spanish during the confrontation, but he refused, needing physical action.

According to records, one officer sustained a bruise on his forehead after being slapped with the handcuffs, while another received medical attention for a bite on his forearm.
