Police: Girl Accidentally Shot In Head On Chicago’s South Side

A teenage girl was accidentally shot near the eye in Chicago’s Oakland neighborhood on Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, the teen was shot near her right eye at 3 a.m. inside a building in the 4100 block of South Ellis Avenue.

The child, who was about 15 years old, was brought to Comer Children’s Hospital and was listed as in fair condition.

According to police, the incident resulted from an “accidental discharge.”

A firearm was recovered at the scene. Area One detectives are conducting an investigation.

Police have not stated what prompted the gun to fire or whether charges are pending.
