An Illinois man was sentenced to federal prison after admitting to dealing drugs in Beloit, according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

Tyreese Taylor, 43, of Machesney Park, Illinois, has been sentenced to 54 months, or four and a half years, in federal prison for cocaine distribution. In October, he pleaded guilty.

According to federal prosecutors, Taylor was released from jail in 2019 after being convicted of federal cocaine trafficking. Taylor was sent back to prison in 2021 for distributing drugs in violation of his release terms.

Taylor was released from jail in 2024 and began a second period of supervised release.

On April 24, 2025, Rock County authorities investigated Taylor’s residence and discovered several ounces of cocaine, a digital scale, other drugs, and drug packaging equipment. Police also found Taylor’s car keys and over $4,000 in cash, which included prerecorded police money from previous narcotics deals. Taylor was detained the same day after a traffic stop in Beloit.

During the sentencing hearing, prosecutors stated that the judge in the case determined Taylor was attracted to the drug trafficking lifestyle and appeared likely to reoffend based on his history.

In addition to the 54-month sentence, the judge ordered him to serve another year and one day in federal prison for breaking the terms of his federal supervised release.
