Detectives from the Regional Narcotics Unit (RNU) received information in early December of this year concerning potential drug sales operating out of a home at the intersection of Sharlands Avenue and Mae Anne Avenue in Reno.
Following an investigation, investigators identified the culprit as 27-year-old Reno resident Isaac Gustavo Alvarez-Rojas. On December 30, investigators, assisted by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, apprehended Alvarez-Rojas and executed a search warrant at his home.
During the search, officers claim they found roughly 2,142 grams of methamphetamine, 23 grams of heroin, and $2,557 in cash. Authorities believe that the street worth of the methamphetamine is $53,565.
Alvarez-Rojas was booked into the Washoe County Jail on accusations of trafficking a controlled substance (methamphetamine) in excess of 400 grams, two counts of possession of a prohibited substance, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
The Regional Narcotics Unit is a joint task force comprised of members from the Reno Police Department, the Sparks Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations.
