Wednesday morning, around 3:30 a.m., Grundy County deputies were alerted to an ISPERN (Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network) broadcast of a stolen vehicle from Bloomington, Illinois, a white 2015 Ford Explorer. A Grundy County deputy found the vehicle traveling north on I-55 near mile marker 226 and attempted a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued, with the vehicle traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

Two additional deputies were stationed on I-55 around the 233-mile marker, armed with stop sticks. As the fleeing vehicle passed the 233-mile marker, both sets of stop sticks were effectively deployed, forcing the vehicle’s tires to gradually lose air. The car left at mile marker 236 and traveled east on Coal City Road before turning north on River Road. The vehicle continued on Route 53, then onto Strip Mine Road. As the car was moving slowly, a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) was authorized and executed. The PIT was successful, and the pursuit ended when the vehicle exited the road and entered the ditch.

The driver, later identified as Deondre Logan, was removed from the vehicle and arrested. Logan was evaluated by Braidwood Fire/EMS and signed a refusal to receive medical treatment.

Logan was driven to Morris Hospital by a deputy before being admitted to the Grundy County Jail, where the emergency room doctor signed off on a confinement form. Logan became violent in the hospital and began spitting at deputies. Logan was brought to the Grundy County Jail and charged with the following:

– Aggravated Assault

· Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle

. Aggravated Fleeing/Eluding a Peace Officer

· Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer

· Reckless Driving

. Speeding 35 MPH or more over the Posted Speed Limit

. (2) McLean County (IL) Warrants for Burglary & Poss of a Stolen Vehicle

. Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) Warrant for Parole Violation

Logan is being held in the Grundy County Jail pending a pre-trial release hearing and has no bond warrants from IDOC and McLean County.
