Toledo Man Charged With Raping, Strangling, And Threatening To Kill Pregnant Woman Is Being Held Against Her Will

A Toledo man has been arrested on a slew of serious offenses, including detaining a pregnant woman against her will in his home and raping, beating, choking, and threatening to kill her, according to court documents.

Jamere Jones, 25, is charged with three charges of kidnapping, three counts of rape, three counts of felonious assault, one act of strangling, two counts of endangering physical safety through strangulation, and one crime of domestic violence.

According to court documents, on December 30 and 31, Jones closed a door to keep the victim, who was 21 weeks pregnant at the time, inside his home while he “assaulted her, strangled her, threatened to shoot her with a rifle and to set her on fire,” as well as rape her many times.

Jones allegedly sprayed rubbing alcohol on the woman’s head and threatened to burn her with a lighter. He also allegedly put a loaded weapon at her chest, threatening to kill both her and himself.

He is also accused of striking her with his hands, a hammer, and other objects, as well as strangling her several times, once until she lost consciousness.

The victim was hospitalized following one assault due to the potential of harm to her pregnant child.

A court set Jones’ total bond at $590,000 and ordered him not to contact the victim or possess any weapons. The judge also scheduled a preliminary hearing for him on January 14.
