29-year-old man detained after deadly shooting at southeast Columbus store

A 29-year-old man was detained Wednesday in connection with a shooting at a southeast Columbus store last November, according to police.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, Johnathan Triplett was charged with murder in the death of Trevon Durham, age 26.

The shooting occurred on November 17 at 2264 S. Hamilton Rd., in the Plaza East strip mall.

According to documents from Franklin County Municipal Court, Triplett arrived at ZZ Boots shortly after Durham. According to an affidavit, Triplett was fighting Durham when he pulled out a revolver and shot him many times.

According to the affidavit, Durham was found unresponsive on the store floor. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to the footage, Triplett fled on foot, abandoning his vehicle and many belongings.

According to the affidavit, Durham and Triplett have a history of violence.

Triplett is being held in the Franklin County Jail. He was handed a $2 million bond on Thursday.
