Texas man apprehended after high-speed pursuit from Vinton to Texas

A Texas man was apprehended Sunday after leading Louisiana State Police on a high-speed chase from Vinton to the Texas state line.

Troopers attempted to stop a white Toyota Corolla in the Vinton area for speeding and improper lane usage shortly after 3 p.m., according to LSP Public Information Trooper Roy Jones.

Jones claimed the driver sped off, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph and passing through Vinton, Sulphur, and DeQuincy before continuing to Texas via I-10.

The Corolla struck a van during the chase, but no injuries were reported, according to Jones.

The chase continued on I-10 over the Texas line, where the driver smashed the Corolla in a parking lot in Orange, according to Jones.

Jones identified the driver as Anthony Jay Laughlin of Texas. Laughlin was apprehended and accused with fleeing arrest in Louisiana.

Additional charges are predicted in Texas.
