59-year-old man mauled to death by pit bull in NYC home: cops

A pit bull dog mauled a man to death inside a Staten Island home on Sunday afternoon, according to cops and sources.

Police responded to a 911 call about a vicious animal inside a home on New Dorp Lane shortly after 4 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Officers discovered a 59-year-old man with many wounds on his body that appeared to be from dog bites, police said.

The unidentified man was pronounced deceased at the scene. It’s unclear whether he lived in the house where the horrific incident occurred or if anyone else was present at the time.

The dog, a pit bull, was transported to the ASPCA, according to law enforcement sources.

Police said the municipal medical examiner will formally determine the man’s cause of death.

The inquiry into the incident is underway.
