A man is facing charges following an alleged altercation with deputies in the Hard Rock Stadium parking lot prior to the CFP National Championship game on Monday, according to jail records.
Adalberto Chacon Jr., 19, of Hialeah Gardens, is charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer without violence, according to an arrest report.
According to the report, a deputy was off-duty when he responded to a report of many people standing on top of vehicles and engaging in physical altercations in a parking lot near the stadium.
Deputies from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Bicycle Response Team tried to disperse the crowd, but Chacon “remained stationary and attempted to grab my bicycle,” according to the report.
Chacon was urged to continue walking and leave the area, but instead came around and pushed a sergeant, according to the report.
He was subsequently arrested and placed into jail.
The article stated that Chacon is a student but does not specify the school he attends.
According to the report, the event occurred around 5 p.m., just before the University of Miami’s 27-21 loss to Indiana in the CFP National Championship game.
