Midlands Man Sentenced To Over 50 Years In Prison For Role In 2022 Murder

The 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office stated on Wednesday that a Columbia man has been sentenced to 54 years in federal prison for his role in a 2022 Lexington County murder.

Chendric J. Brown, 27, was sentenced to life in prison for murder, which will run concurrently with his 30-year term for attempted murder.

In September 2022, Brown shot Harold J. Peak, 22, along Princeton Road in Lexington County.

The solicitor’s office stated that evidence given during the trial revealed that Brown sat outside Peak’s home on Princeton Road, waited for him to depart, and then shot him with an assault weapon while he was a passenger in a car.

Brown texted an unnamed accomplice about Peak’s position and expressed his wrath toward him, according to digital evidence presented during the trial. According to the solicitor’s office, Brown possessed the murder weapon, as evidenced by photos and videos on his phone.

Detective Bryan Senn of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Unit headed the investigation, while Eleventh Circuit Solicitor Rick Hubbard and Deputy Solicitor Suzanne Mayes prosecuted the case.

“We appreciate Sheriff Jay Koon’s and the whole Sheriff’s Department’s efforts to investigate this issue. This was a deliberate act of violence, executed with total contempt for human life. “Our office remains dedicated to protecting our community from violent crimes,” Hubbard said in a statement.

Brown has been transferred to the South Carolina Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence. He isn’t eligible for parole.
