Man Apprehended for Death of 16-Year-Old in Central Florida Traffic Crash

A man was apprehended for the death of a 16-year-old in a Central Florida traffic crash.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested the man in connection with the 16-year-old’s death in a traffic crash.

According to local law enforcement, on December 26, 2025, a woman and her 16-year-old daughter were driving northbound on 30th Street Northeast in their sedan when they began crossing Covington Garden Drive in Apollo Beach.

Dominic Frye, 21, was driving a pickup truck westbound on Covington Garden Drive when he ran the stop sign at 30th Street Northeast and collided with the sedan’s passenger side, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The 16-year-old was rushed to the hospital and died from her injuries.

Dominic Frye was detained and charged with DUI manslaughter as well as driving under the influence with property damage or personal injury, according to local authorities.
