Colorado Springs Police Officers Reportedly Dragged By Car, Suspect Apprehended

Two police officers were reportedly injured in Colorado Springs on Monday night after being dragged by a vehicle.

Police detailed the event on their online crime blotter, noting that police performed a traffic check in the 500 block of N. Murray Boulevard around 11 p.m. Monday. The area is close to Platte and east of S. Academy Boulevard.

“During the traffic stop, the driver was removed from the vehicle for further investigation,” police noted in their online blotter. “Officers then witnessed the vehicle’s back passenger, Anthony Lofton, 32, going to the driver’s seat. When confronted, Lofton attempted to drive away. Lofton was eventually subdued after two cops were temporarily pulled several feet.

Both officers were hurt, according to police. Lofton was detained and suspected of first-degree assault on a peace officer. He also had active arrest warrants, including one for assault on a peace officer.
