Woman tries to buy gun in Kenmore to “kill ICE agents,” DHS says

A U.S. citizen trying to buy a gun in Kenmore in Erie County on two separate occasions to “kill ICE Agents,” according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The woman attempted to buy a firearm twice and allegedly stated that she intended to “buy a gun to protect herself from ICE agents and also to kill ICE agents.”

“Every day there are more assaults, more vehicle-ramming attacks, more attempts to kill our officers. Now, we have an American citizen purchasing a gun with the intent to KILL our officers,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin in a release. “The violence and dehumanization of these men and women who are simply enforcing the law must stop.”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers killed two U.S. citizens this month in Minneapolis.

Family members of Alex Pretti, who was killed on January 24, said he had a concealed carry permit and owned a handgun, but they had never seen him carry it. According to the DHS, Pretti had a gun in his possession at the time of his death.

“DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s message is clear: you will not stop or slow us down,” a release said. “ICE and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law. And if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
