The Winthrop Police Department apprehended a man from Lynn on Tuesday.
Ralph Sostre, 39, of Lynn, was arrested and charged with fentanyl trafficking and cocaine possession with the intent to distribute.
Members of the Winthrop Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, assisted by the Winthrop Police Patrol Division, investigated the areas of Kennedy Road, Atlantic Street, and nearby streets for suspected drug distribution.
Sostre’s blue Tesla Model Y was suspected of being involved, according to the department.
“Detectives observed activity consistent with street-level narcotics distribution,” the department reported.
A motor vehicle stop was made on Revere Street and Shirley Street, and Sostre refused to remove his vehicle despite numerous lawful requests. Officers had to break into the vehicle to safely remove Sostre.
He was hauled into prison following a brief fight.
A search of the vehicle yielded roughly 18.9 grams of suspected fentanyl and 12 grams of suspected cocaine, as well as many transparent plastic bags, a digital scale, two phones, and more than $2,400 in cash.
Tyrone Robinson, 45, of Winthrop, was arrested the same day for possessing cocaine with intent to distribute (a subsequent offense).
