2 Detained After Armed Robbery And Assault On Highway In Anne Arundel County

An 18- and 17-year-old were detained in connection with an armed robbery and assault on a highway in Anne Arundel County early Thursday, according to police.

According to authorities, Jammar Joseph West-Jones of Baltimore and the 17-year-old from Pasadena are both facing charges in connection with the incident.

Officers were called to an assault near Ritchie Highway and Jumpers Hole Road at around 3:30 in the morning.

Two women reported that a white car was pursuing them when they got there. They informed officers that the suspects tried to run them off the road, brandished a gun at them, and eventually rammed their car, officials said.

Authorities say the driver fled the scene on foot. The attackers pulled the second victim from the car, attacked her, and stole her purse, according to authorities.

The suspects then ran south along Ritchie Highway. When cops discovered the suspects’ vehicle, it swiftly left. According to authorities, the driver of the suspects’ vehicle lost control and crashed on westbound Route 11 at the Mountain Road exit. The two suspects then escaped on foot.

One of the suspects was promptly apprehended, according to authorities. The second suspect was apprehended with the assistance of drones and K9 units.

Officers then discovered that the vehicle was stolen. Police say they found a gun inside the vehicle.

According to Maryland State Police records, there were 5,716 assaults reported in Anne Arundel County in 2025, with 200 involving guns. In 2024, the county reported 6,323 assaults, 205 of which involved guns.

According to data, almost 636 property offenses occurred on the streets of Anne Arundel County last year, compared to 786 in 2024.

Records show that the number of robberies in the county decreased from 396 in 2024 to 247 in 2025.
