Man Sentenced To 50 Years In Prison For Killing Woman At Indianapolis Gas Station

A man named Kobe Bond was sentenced on Thursday to 50 years in the Indiana Department of Correction for the July 2024 shooting death of Tyreana Terrell.

Bond was convicted of murder in February. His trial lasted two days.

On July 9, 2024, police from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a gas station near 56th Street and Georgetown Road, where they discovered Terrell near the building with multiple gunshot wounds.

What happened next was spotted on surveillance footage. Terrell was shown coming to the gas station and making a transaction inside. When she returned outside, she started waving and swearing at individuals in another car. She got into a brawl with another woman while a crowd watched.

Throughout the altercation, Bond was observed carrying and occasionally brandishing a weapon. Terrell yelled and smacked Bond after the fight ended and the parties separated. Bond then pulled out his handgun and fired three shots, hitting Terrell twice as she fell to the ground.

Terrell later died in the hospital. Witnesses at the hospital told police that Bond was Terrell’s ex-boyfriend. They also stated that he was driving his mother’s white automobile.

Several hours later, officers discovered a white vehicle with that description abandoned at Broadmoor Plaza. The vehicle’s passenger-side door was covered in blood. Investigators also discovered clothing that matched what was shown in surveillance film, as well as the vehicle’s registration plate, near the location of the car. Two days later, another person called the police after discovering a gun in a flower bed in the same spot.

A week later, Bond was arrested by the Indianapolis Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit.

“When someone chooses to bring a gun into a conflict, the consequences extend far beyond that moment. Today’s sentence reinforces that this kind of senseless gun violence will not be tolerated in our community,” said Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears.
