Ocala Man Sentenced To Prison For Jewelry Robbery At Paddock Mall

An Ocala man was sentenced for committing two robberies at a local retail store and a jewelry store at the Paddock Mall.

Danny Anzardo, 46, of Ocala, was recently sentenced to 10 years and 10 months in federal prison for interfering with commerce by robbery and brandishing a pistol while committing a violent offense. The court also ordered Anzardo to surrender the stolen jewelry seized upon his detention.

According to court filings, Anzardo stole from two Ocala businesses on October 29, 2024: a retail store and a small jewelry shop at the Paddock Mall. During the first heist, Anzardo pointed a weapon at the cashier and demanded money from the register. Anzardo stole around $88 from the cash register and left.

Several hours later, Anzardo looted the jewelry store. Anzardo intimated to the victim that he had a pistol in his backpack and threatened to kill him. Anzardo took about $13,000 in jewelry from the store.

Anzardo was apprehended the next day and confessed to both robberies. He admitted to using a handgun during the first heist and disposing of it in a lake prior to robbing the jewelry store.

He told investigators that he had traded part of the jewelry for narcotics, but officers were able to retrieve two necklaces and two charms from Anzardo’s vehicle.

Danny Anzardo pleaded guilty on September 19, 2025. U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber sentenced him, and U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the decision.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Ocala Police Department, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office all conducted investigations into this case. Belkis H. Callaos, Assistant United States Attorney, prosecuted the case. Nicole M. Andrejko, Assistant United States Attorney, is handling the forfeiture proceedings.

This case is part of Project Safe areas, a program that brings together police enforcement at all levels and the communities they serve to minimize violent crime and gun violence while also making local areas safer for all.
