A man has been taken into custody after allegedly throwing an injured dog into a dumpster behind a Kissimmee business.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived Saturday to complaints of a distressed dog behind a business at 1076 Cypress Parkway. An employee who was carrying out the trash overheard the dog crying and contacted authorities.
When deputies arrived, they discovered a small dog suffering from serious injuries. The dog was taken to a veterinarian, but he had to be euthanized due to a serious skull fracture.
According to investigators, security video shows Victor Manuel Carrion-Flores removing the dog from a pickup truck, placing it in a box, and discarding it into a dumpster.
Max, a 10-year-old Jack Russell terrier mix, apparently escaped Carrion-Flores’ home and was subsequently discovered injured. Carrion-Flores told deputies he was too busy to deal with the dog, which he feared would eventually die from injuries.
Deputies say he denied injuring the dog but did not seek medical attention for it. Carrion-Flores is charged with severe animal abuse resulting in excessive agony and death, a third-degree felony.
