2 women arrested after smash-and-grab at Old Town grocery store

Chicago police said they arrested two women early Tuesday morning after they broke into a grocery store in the city’s Old Town district and stole some items.

Shattered glass and a brick that could have been used as a projectile were discovered early Tuesday at the Fresh Market on 1233 N. Wells St.

Around 3:30 a.m., police said the two women shattered the glass front door and stole items before fleeing on foot. The two women were apprehended shortly thereafter.

Charges were pending Tuesday morning.
