Woman detained after hit-and-run crash in Horizon

A 30-year-old woman was detained following a hit-and-run crash in Horizon last week, according to the Horizon City Police Department.

Amanda Gloria Portillo, 30, was charged with a collision resulting in car damage. She was placed into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $2,500 bond.

On Thursday, March 5, shortly before 2:30 p.m., officers were summoned to the Horizon Boulevard and Ashford Street junction in response to a hit-and-run crash.

The victim informed investigators that their vehicle was struck from behind by another vehicle, which fled the scene. The victim had a video of the suspected vehicle exiting the scene and provided investigators with a description of the vehicle and the driver, who was eventually identified as Portillo.

Officers discovered the vehicle at a property in the 12900 block of Barnard Road. The vehicle showed visible front-end damage, which corresponded to the stated crash.

Officers attempted to make contact with the residents, but no one replied. The vehicle was then detained to “preserve potential evidence” from the incident, according to Horizon City police.

Portillo later went to the Horizon City Police Department and reported her involvement in the hit-and-run collision.
