2 Men Apprehended In Central Florida For Racing After Sport Bike Did Wheelie

Two men were taken into custody in Central Florida for racing after a sport bike performed a wheelie, drawing the attention of law officials.

A Polk County Sheriff’s Office sergeant was recently near Lake Wilson Road and Town Center Boulevard in Loughman, north of Davenport, when he spotted a biker on a blue Yamaha sport bike performing a wheelie.

The motorcyclist then started racing a black 2020 Chevy Camaro as they drove west on Ronald Reagan Parkway. The sergeant communicated with other forces via radio while continuing to monitor the two cars from a distance.

According to local law enforcement, the Camaro and motorbike both entered a left-turn-only lane and came to a halt at a traffic light, at which point the sergeant activated his emergency lights, blocked the motorcycle, and immediately apprehended the driver. Other troops arrived on the scene and detained the Camaro driver.

The driver of the Camaro was identified as 21-year-old Aquiles Ortega-Rodriguez.

Dereck Castro-Molina, 19, of Davenport, has been identified as the motorcycle rider.

Both males were detained and sent to the Sheriff’s Processing Center.

Aquiles Ortega-Rodriguez was charged with both racing and reckless driving. He arrived in the United States illegally from Venezuela. As a result, his charges were increased one degree, and ICE issued a HOLD on him.

Dereck Castro-Molina was charged with both racing and reckless driving. Castro was also handed a ticket for the wheelie, with a cost of $1,164.

Deputies determined that Castro-Molina purchased his motorcycle in October 2025, and he was detained by Haines City Police on December 2, 2025, for driving 106 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.
