The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 4-year-old child found Saturday near a lake in Deerfield Township.
Sheriff Barry Riley reported that deputies were dispatched to Al-Char Lakes in the 4300 block of South Shore Drive late Saturday afternoon. Officers remained on the scene for several hours to investigate before vacating the area later that evening.
Officials suspect the toddler drowned in the lake, but the circumstances of the event are still under investigation.
The youngster’s identity has not yet been revealed, and authorities have not provided any other information on how the infant ended up in the water.
Investigators stated the case is still ongoing, and more information may be disclosed as the investigation progresses. Officials haven’t said whether foul play is suspected.
