One person apprehended after trying carjacking at Ohio high school

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a 15-year-old in connection with an trying carjacking in the Monroe High School parking lot.

According to authorities, the incident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. Thursday, when the teen approached an 18-year-old sitting in a parked vehicle and asked for a vape cartridge. When the older teen stated that he did not have one, the suspect allegedly produced what seemed to be a revolver and demanded the vehicle.

The victim drove away from the area and called police.

Investigators studied security footage and identified the perpetrator as a fellow high school student. Deputies later spotted the kid in Monroe Township’s Oakridge Estates neighborhood and apprehended him at a home on the 300 block of Wildhaven.

During the arrest, deputies found a silver pellet gun that looked like a genuine handgun.

The child was transported to the Monroe County Youth Center. The case is still under investigation.
