Police: Mother Arrested After Hitting 1-year-old With Her Vehicle At Altoona Motel

A mother is in jail after reportedly hitting her 1-year-old with her vehicle at an Altoona motel.

Logan Township police were called to the Horseshoe Curve Lodge on Pleasant Valley Boulevard on Wednesday, March 18. It was reported that a mother, later identified as Cresson resident Kassandra Perry, 34, hit her child with a vehicle.

Police arrived at the scene and spoke with Perry’s boyfriend, who stated that he and Perry had an argument as he was loading their 1-year-old child into the car. As the disagreement progressed, he began walking away to the front of the motel.

At this point, Perry allegedly pulled the child from the vehicle while still in their car seat and placed them on the ground in the parking lot. According to authorities, Perry then got into the vehicle and began backing up, colliding with the car seat. She allegedly sped out of the parking lot. A staffer alerted the boyfriend that the child had been left alone in the parking lot.

Perry was subsequently discovered at Sam’s Club and is suspected of being under the influence, according to authorities.

She was then brought to the Logan Township Police Department and charged with child endangerment and driving while intoxicated. She is currently in Blair County Prison, failing to pay the $150,000 bond issued by Magisterial District Judge Kevin Stoltz.

Logan Township police said Blair County Children, Youth, and Family Services assisted in the case.
