Police say a 63-year-old man shot a woman in Defiance County shortly before noon on Saturday.
According to the Defiance County Sheriff’s Office, authorities arrived at a home on Painter Road south of Defiance about 11:55 a.m. after receiving reports that a woman had been shot by a family member.
When they arrived, they discovered a person suffering from several gunshot wounds.
Police rushed the seriously injured victim to the hospital.
Police said the suspect, Columbus resident John Okuley, fled the scene in a silver Subaru with phony plates. Okuley was apprehended by police around 4:30 p.m. in White County, Indiana.
Okuley was given a warrant for attempted murder and felony assault. He is also being jailed on a fugitive from justice charge and will face an extradition hearing in the coming days.
