One of Canada’s most wanted fugitives has been apprehended in Mississippi on immigration-related charges.
U.S. Attorney Scott F. Leary revealed that Adrian Walker, a Canadian national, was wanted by the Toronto Police Service on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with a shooting that allegedly occurred on May 7, 2024, in Toronto.
Toronto police listed Walker as a “Most Wanted Person.”
According to the announcement, the U.S. Marshals Service, its Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives discovered Walker was hiding in Tupelo, Mississippi, under an alias.
Investigators found that Walker had illegally entered the United States without undergoing scrutiny from immigration officials.
HSI secured an arrest warrant for an immigration violation, and federal and state authorities apprehended Walker on Monday afternoon.
Walker faced charges in the Northern District of Mississippi. ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations has placed an immigration detainer on him to ensure his deportation following the conclusion of the Mississippi case.
Walker is anticipated to be extradited to Canada to face murder and attempted murder charges.
“This was a serious case,” Leary said, adding that the multi-day operation involving the US Marshals, ATF, and HSI resulted in Walker’s arrest.
Acting HSI Special Agent in Charge Matt Wright, located in New Orleans, stated that Walker believed he might elude capture by hiding in North Mississippi, but concerted efforts resulted in his arrest on federal immigration charges.
