2 men killed in Chatham shooting, Chicago police say

Two men were shot and killed in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood on Tuesday night, authorities said.

The incident took place at 11:21 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Calumet Avenue.

According to police, five male suspects approached two males outdoors.

There was an altercation, and the two victims were shot, authorities said. It is unclear how many of the suspects were armed or fired.

A 37-year-old man was shot in the chest and pronounced dead on the scene, according to authorities. A 44-year-old male was shot many times and sent to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police stated the suspects fled on foot toward 79th Street. Detectives from Area Two are conducting an investigation.
