Missing Pennsylvania teen located safe in South Carolina, one man charged

A Pennsylvania teenager who had been reported missing was discovered safe after being taken to South Carolina.

State police from Uniontown reported Emily Salonick missing on March 21. According to the release, the last sighting of the 17-year-old occurred at McDonald’s.

On March 25, the Fayette County District Attorney’s Office said that Salonick had been discovered safe in South Carolina, and her “paramour,” 20-year-old Michael Hart, had been charged with interference with child custody, with additional charges expected.

It was discovered that Hart had brought Slonick from her residence in Pennsylvania to a family member in South Carolina. Throughout the search for Salonick, Hart claimed and insisted he had no idea where she was. The district attorney noted that his actions, as well as those of others involved, put a significant strain on law enforcement and the teen’s family.

“Over the last week, we have received hundreds of tips from the public through phone calls and social media,” according to the district attorney’s office. “We can’t thank everyone enough for their incredible care and concern for our family. We are especially appreciative to Trooper Robert Wilson and PSP Uniontown for leading this successful investigation and reuniting Emily.”

It was highlighted that this is still an ongoing investigation, and additional charges are expected to be made.
