Two brothers were shot and killed early Sunday morning during an after-prom gathering in the Blue Mountain area, according to the Tippah County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities said deputies responded to reports of a shooting at a home about 1 a.m. on March 29. Investigators suspect that a large altercation involving several people broke out at the party and escalated into shooting.
Both fatalities were pronounced dead on the scene. The victims’ names have not yet been revealed pending communication of family members, but officials verified they were brothers.
Tippah County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Chris McCallister stated the case is still being investigated. While no arrests have been made, authorities have stated that the individuals suspected of involvement do not pose a continuing threat to public safety.
