Ohio Dance Instructor Gets Prison Time For Attempted Murder

A Warren County dance instructor is headed to prison for attempted murder.

Olivia Clendenin, 29, of Franklin, was found guilty by a Warren County jury of attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault, and illegal discharge of a handgun at or into a dwelling, with accompanying firearm specifications.

On Thursday, Judge Robert Peeler sentenced Clendenin to 16 to 20.5 years in jail.

Prosecutors allege Clendenin discovered her husband and boyfriend were together at a party on January 1, 2025, after both men learned earlier that evening about their respective relationships with Clendenin.

After unsuccessfully attempting to persuade her husband to quit the party, Clendenin arrived at Dearth Road in Clear Creek Township with a .40 caliber handgun.

Clendenin then fired eight shots, striking a guy sitting on the porch of that residence in the abdomen and nearly killing him.

During Clendenin’s sentencing hearing, the victim, Daniel Johnson, spoke. On the day of the incident, I was attending a New Year’s Day gathering. I was invited over and was sitting on the porch, minding my own business. The defendant attempted to shoot someone else, but I ended up being shot. “In that moment, my life changed for reasons unrelated to me,” Johnson explained.

He stated that the incident has affected every aspect of his life, both emotionally and physically. He stated that he is still healing and experiencing chronic discomfort.

“Clendenin also spoke.” “I’d just like to express how much I care about my family, friends, business, and those who rely on me in this world,” she stated. “To Daniel, I am very, very glad that he is well after a difficult time he has been through, and I truly hope that he has a great future, and I wish him nothing but the best in his future.”
