DC man sentenced to 23 years for murder and possession of cocaine

Officials said a D.C. man has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for shooting and killing a person and possessing cocaine.

Quateze Moore of Northwest, D.C., shot and killed Martinez Robinson around 7 p.m. on August 23, 2023, according to earlier DC News Now reporting.

Moore and Robinson were near 14th and Girard Street Park around 7 p.m. when Moore shot Robinson as he fled the scene. Moore shot him three times, and he died on the scene. Moore also shot and killed Robinson’s dog.

After conducting chemical testing, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) discovered a weapon and a plastic bag containing cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, and oxycodone, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. (USAO).

On January 1, 2024, Moore was arrested and accused of murder.

He has been in custody since his arrest.

On January 14, he pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and possessing a controlled substance (cocaine) with intent to distribute while armed.

Moore was sentenced to 23 years in jail, followed by five years on supervised release.
