An Oceanside man has been sentenced to 15 years to life in state prison after being convicted of heinous offenses against a child under the age of ten, according to the Oceanside Police Department. The Family Protection Unit of the department, in collaboration with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, conducted the investigation. To protect the child and the family, officials are not disclosing any names.
According to a statement posted on the Facebook page of the Oceanside Police Department, the punishment resulted from an investigation by the Family Protection Unit and the district attorney’s office. The post featured a brief remark announcing the outcome of the case, as well as images.
The San Diego County District Attorney’s Family Protection Division is responsible for prosecuting crimes against children and collaborates closely with local law enforcement on those investigations, according to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. According to the division’s yearly reports, the unit handles child abuse and exploitation allegations and works with police divisions to prepare cases for trial.
