A customer was detained after refusing to pay his bill at a restaurant in The Villages.
According to an arrest complaint from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Paul Greer Szymanski, 76, of Lady Lake’s Water Oak subdivision, refused to pay his account at Darrell’s Diner at Southern Trace Plaza at midday Saturday. Szymanski alleged that the restaurant was breaching an unnamed federal law.
Law enforcement was brought to the scene, and Szymanski eventually paid his tab but remained unhelpful. He was instructed to leave the restaurant but refused. Szymanski was arrested for trespassing after being warned three times to leave and refusing to do so. He was booked into Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting a $500 bond.
