Woman apprehended in connection with fatal September 2025 Phoenix intersection shooting

A 24-year-old woman was apprehended Monday in connection with a September 2025 shooting at a Phoenix junction that killed a 54-year-old man, authorities said.

Following the fatal September 27 incident, the Phoenix Police Department initially released Heather Crystal Arriaga pending further investigation. Arriaga was arrested on Monday and charged with manslaughter.

She is being held on a $500,000 bail and will appear in court on April 14.

On September 27, 2025, officers were summoned to the intersection of Missouri and Seventh avenues, where they discovered Stephen Guardino with a gunshot wound. Guardino was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died, police said.

During the initial investigation, officers discovered that Guardino got out of his car to confront Arriaga, who was inside her vehicle.

Arriaga then shot Guardino from inside her car. She then remained on the site to speak with police, according to authorities.
