A second suspect in a March homicide in Beaumont was detained Wednesday morning in Harris County by the U.S. Marshals Service, authorities said.
Corey Comeaux, 24, is one of two men accused in the March 24 shooting death of Joseph Manuel of Beaumont.
According to the Beaumont Police Department, police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Rafes Way at 7:45 a.m. on March 24 to investigate a report of gunfire. When cops arrived, they discovered Manuel inside a residence with grave injuries.
Detectives and the department’s Real-Time Crime Center analyzed evidence and used license plate recognition technology to identify a potential suspect car. Officers ultimately located the vehicle in the 5400 block of Pine Street, where they arrested 17-year-old Bryson Parkerson of Beaumont without incident. Parkerson was detained on suspicion of tampering with evidence in connection with the homicide.
Further investigation, including video surveillance and witness testimony, led authorities to identify Comeaux as one of the suspects in Manuel’s murder. Comeaux was given an arrest warrant for murder.
According to authorities, the US Marshals Service apprehended Comeaux in Harris County on Wednesday and arrested him.
Investigators suspect other people may have been involved, and additional charges are possible.
