One Taken Into Custody After Five Vehicle Crash On The Old Road

One person was taken into custody on suspicion of felony driving under the influence following a five-vehicle crash on The Old Road and Rye Canyon Road on Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol Newhall-area Office.

According to preliminary information, at around 2:57 p.m., a car heading southbound on The Old Road strayed into oncoming traffic and collided with two vehicles traveling in the opposite direction, according to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, a spokesman for the CHP Newhall office.

According to him, the hit caused one of the vehicles to topple, which set off a chain reaction that resulted in two further vehicles colliding.

At the time of this story’s publication, authorities arrested the driver for driving under the influence. Burgos-Lopez said two persons were hurt and taken to the hospital in uncertain condition.

According to Burgos-Lopez and the CHP incident files, the suspect was driving with a husky at the time of the collision.

Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control workers were dispatched to the location to pick up the dog and transport it to the Castaic Animal Care Center, he said.

According to Fred Fielding, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the incident at 2:58 p.m. and arrived on the scene in seven minutes. No trapped parties or transports were recorded, according to their records.
