A teenager was shot in a neighborhood off Fifth Avenue this afternoon, according to authorities.
According to the Lake Charles Police Department, the 17-year-old teenager was shot on East Lake Michelle Circle and had non-life-threatening injuries. Police arrived at 5:01 p.m.
7News spoke with a resident who claimed he heard the shooting:
“What I heard, it sounded like fireworks. That’s what it mostly sounded like. I would say (I heard) like two or three, then I went back to sleep.”
