Harris County deputies are searching for two suspects in the alleged theft of Legos from a Target, after one other suspect was detained.

Traffic stop leads to arrest in alleged Target thefts

Early on Thursday morning, Precinct 5 Constable Terry Allbritton’s Office reported that toll road deputies conducted a traffic check near the 3300 block of West Sam Houston Parkway South after seeing a vehicle driving without lights.

The deputy who pulled the vehicle over was validating the driver’s and vehicle’s information when he received an alert that the vehicle and individuals inside were suspected of Target theft.

According to the constable’s office, the suspect recently stole more than $1,000 in Legos.

While the officer was still identifying the driver, the front and back seat passengers exited the vehicle and began running. When the deputy began chasing them, the driver fled the area in the vehicle, according to officials.

Officers from the Houston Police Department assisted the deputy, and he was able to take the backseat passenger into arrest. Due to his 18-year-old age and possession of a loaded firearm, the defendant was charged with fleeing arrest or detention and unauthorized carry of a weapon.

The driver and front-seat passenger have not yet been caught, but Harris County investigators have positively identified them based on information provided to the officer prior to the chase.

The constable’s office reports that arrest warrants have been issued for the driver for felony evading in a motor vehicle and the front-seat passenger for felony evading with a prior conviction.
