An Allegheny County man is charged with criminal homicide after allegedly beating his girlfriend to death and hiding her body inside his truck with blankets.
According to the criminal complaint, officers discovered red-brown staining on the truck’s inside as well as traces of a violent struggle.
The suspect, known as Higgins, allegedly informed police that the victim, Pryber, had been drinking and doing drugs in his vehicle. He also said he was unhappy with her, accusing her of stealing his money and seeing other guys. He also accused her of evicting him from Garden View Manor Apartments.
Investigators say Higgins acknowledged repeatedly striking Pryber in the face with his fists, telling officers that he hit her so hard that “her blood and tissue was all over the inside of his truck.” The complaint states that Pryber had a medical condition that rendered her unable to defend herself.
Higgins allegedly drove about with her body for several days before stopping in a Monroeville parking area and throwing away bloody cloths and a portable oxygen unit in a dumpster.
He was later arrested and charged with criminal homicide. The investigation is underway.
