A year-long homicide investigation in southeast Shelby County has resulted in an arrest more than 700 miles away, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies revealed that Nigel Farmer, 30, was detained in Omaha, Nebraska, on Tuesday, November 19, 2025, in connection with the 2024 shooting death of Ta’Lesha Wise-Farmer, 31.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began on October 29, 2024, when deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 7800 block of Shadowland Cove in southeast Shelby County. Wise-Farmer was discovered unresponsive on the scene and later confirmed dead by Shelby County Fire personnel.
According to detectives, Nigel Farmer was identified as the alleged shooter after a year-long investigation. A warrant for first-degree murder was issued early this year, prompting the Memphis Safe Task Force to follow him to Omaha, where he had recently relocated.
According to authorities, Farmer is currently in custody in Nebraska and is awaiting extradition to Shelby County, Tennessee, to face charges.
