A 36-year-old man was detained and charged with animal cruelty after a social media post allegedly showed him striking and throwing a dog to the ground, according to El Paso police.
Police said they opened an investigation after the social media post surfaced. Investigators identified the suspect, Gilberto Santos, 36, after receiving an anonymous tip.
On Saturday, Nov. 22, he was arrested and put into the El Paso County Detention Facility for cruelty to a non-livestock animal (torture) on a $10,000 bond.
