Anonymous Tip Leads to Arrest of Central Florida Man Wanted for Attempted Murder

An anonymous tip led to the arrest of a Central Florida man sought for attempted murder.

An anonymous Heartland Crime Stoppers tip was recently delivered to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, revealing the location of 24-year-old Austin Daniel Richardson.

According to law authorities, the Winter Haven man was wanted for attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm in a residential area, and improper display of a firearm.

Authorities accuse Richardson of committing the offense on July 29, 2025, in a community near Thornhill Road and Spirit Lake Road.

Following up on the tip, PCSO deputies went to a residence on Country Place SW in Winter Haven. According to local law enforcement, deputies approached Richardson behind the house, and he said, “I’m the one you’re looking for.”

Austin Richardson was arrested without incident and sent to the Sheriff’s Processing Center on a warrant.

In addition to his Polk County charges, Richardson has an Orange County warrant for failure to appear for DUI, according to law officials.
