A Summerfield woman was detained on drug charges after officers discovered narcotics in her purse and underwear.
Around 6:55 p.m. Thursday, a deputy stopped 34-year-old Kristine Lee Gonzalez, a passenger in a blue 2007 Toyota near Quality Suites in Wildwood, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The tag was investigated and found to be issued to another vehicle.
The deputy first spoke with the male driver, who stated that Gonzalez owned the vehicle, but it was not registered. According to the report, the tag was actually for his car, which was not running at the time.
Gonzalez then consented to hand over her identification. She reached inside her purse and grabbed a clear zippered bag with several items inside before swiftly returning it. However, the deputy had already seen a clear plastic baggie with a white crystalline material within it. When he asked about it, she stated it was only pocket lint, according to the report.
Both occupants were then removed from the vehicle to wait for another deputy to test the baggie. Law enforcement searched the vehicle and discovered a suspected marijuana cigarette, a black grinder with a green leafy substance inside, and three vape cartridges with a thick dark yellow liquid, according to the report.
The whitish substance in the baggie was found to contain 0.1 grams of methamphetamine. According to the investigation, the remaining paraphernalia contained 0.7 grams of marijuana, albeit the vape cartridges had not been tested at the time of the report.
Gonzalez later confessed to having a “bubble” in her panties, a typical term for a glass bubble pipe used to inhale methamphetamine. She also had a plastic tube containing three marijuana roaches in the same location. According to the report, this discovery increased the overall weight of methamphetamine to 0.3 grams and the weight of marijuana to 2.1 grams.
She was accused of possessing methamphetamine, marijuana (under 20 grams), and drug equipment. She was taken to the Sumter County Detention Center and bond was set at $3,500.
