Detectives with the Houston Police Department are investigating what seems to be a homicide at a north Houston smoke shop.
According to a homicide detective at the scene, the inquiry is still in its early stages.
Officers responded to the Daze Elevated Smoke Shop in the 8600 block of N. Houston Rosslyn Road Saturday afternoon, after an employee discovered the body of the store’s owner inside the business.
According to preliminary information, an employee drove past the store at noon and saw the “open” sign illuminated, but the owner’s vehicle was not parked outside as usual.
The employee entered the store and discovered the owner deceased on the ground in the back.
Based on security footage gathered at the company, detectives believe a gunshot occurred around midnight.
The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet concluded its investigation to identify the official cause and manner of death.
Investigators have confirmed that one person of interest is currently in custody. Authorities claimed the guy was apprehended earlier in the day by a separate squad for allegedly driving a stolen car. The automobile is thought to be connected to the case.
Homicide police have yet to question the person of interest, and no formal charges have been filed in connection with the death.
Police said the investigation is still underway, and further information will be revealed once it is confirmed.
