Search for missing man in Hocking River continues
ATHENS, Ohio – Search operations for a missing man are set to begin again at 8 a.m. on June 25, 2018 in the Hocking River near Whites Mill.
According to the Athens Emergency Management Agency, the Athens City Fire Department stopped the search operations on June 24, for the night. The Athens City Fire Department along with Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Division of Water Craft, Richland Area Fire Department, Rome Township Fire Department, Amesville Fire Department, and Jacksonville Fire Department all worked to search for a male that had gone into the water June 23 approximately 8 p.m.
The male was resportedly wearing black shorts and shirt or shoes. He is considered a missing person. According to a statement from the Athens EMA, the 29-year-old male reportedly jumped into the “Hocking River near Whites Mill at 2 Whites Mill Drive in the City of Athens.”
Crews are continuing their search for the missing man.
